Artist's Biography

Abeer Nehme is a Lebanese international singer. She is considered one of the strongest voices in the Arab world, and the only Arab performer to sing in more than twenty-nine languages, which has made her the emissary of cultural and musical dialogue in the region. Abeer has studied music her entire life, with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Musicology, as well as a Diploma with high distinction in Arabic singing.

Abeer is the first artist to sign an international record deal with Universal Music MENA, producing three albums to date, to include multiple big hits that went viral with millions of views across online platforms. She performs her music worldwide, to include iconic theatres, opera houses and venues, as well as the most prominent international festivals around the world; accompanied by international orchestras. Abeer has also collaborated with award-winning composers and artists, such as international Lebanese composer, Marcel Khalife who produced and composed a solo album for Abeer distributed by Universal Music MENA. Notably, Abeer also hosted her own weekly variety show in Istanbul for 2 years, aired on the National Turkish Television – TRT, accompanied by the Turkish Orchestra. 

Abeer has a rich portfolio with an extensive list of performances. She has received many international and national recognitions and awards.

In addition to her singing, Abeer is also a professional songwriter, actress, and producer. She has written and composed songs on her albums. She sang and composed the album “Al-Mutanabbi… Mousafiran Abadan” produced by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority. She also composed the UAE’s Sheikh Zayed Book Award theme soundtrack. 

Abeer has performed as the lead actress and singer in six big production musicals in prestigious state and international theatres. She has also filmed, produced, and starred in documentaries and shows aired on television, such as the award winning and critically acclaimed 6-year documentary series, “Ethnopholia Mousiqa-l-Shou’oub” [Music of the Nations]; 2010-2016.

This 40-episode one-of-a-kind series featured Abeer interacting with locals from around the globe, singing their songs, cooking their food, dancing their dances, and observing their cultures and traditions, highlighting the roots and origins of culture, folk and ethnic music. 

In recognition of her extensive musical experience, Abeer has been invited as a reoccurring Master Class trainer, teaching music students at the Global Musician Workshop – Silkroad Project in Boston, Massachusetts; an institution founded by famous international cellist, Yo-Yo Ma; 2022-2023

In 2023, Abeer performed a virtual concert in collaboration with the United Nations (UN) and UN Chamber Music Society in New York, broadcasted through UN web TV and UN global YouTube Channel in support of the relief efforts for earthquake victims in Syria and Turkey – 2023

Abeer has also been named the ambassador of Spotify’s Equal Arabia campaign, celebrated on all of Spotify’s platforms, and displaying Abeer on the iconic New York billboard in Times Square – December 2022

Abeer performs her music worldwide, at iconic theatres, opera houses and venues, as well as the most prominent international festivals around the world.

  • Four-time winner of Murex D’or Award
  • Chosen as a judge to the international “UNESCO Jeunesse au service de la paix 2023” award
  • The Aga Khan Music Awards, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Portugal 
  • The Indian prime minister HE Narendra Modi requested Abeer to sing “Vaishnav Jan To…” as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. Abeer performed the 15-century-old Gujarati poem on Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary, with Indian officials and Gandhi’s grandson present. Abeer was awarded by the Indian government at the Indian embassy in Beirut
  • Arab Radios Union Golden Award for the best environmental song of the year in the Arab world “Faha Al-Shaza”
